There is certainly plenty of sport to see and play in Penrith with the Rugby League Team the Penrith Panthers a crowd favourite since their inception into the Sydney First Division in 1967, now NRL.
The Mountainmen have won two NRL premierships, winning their inaugural trophy in 1993 before again being successful ten years later beating the Sydney Roosters 18-6 in the NRL Grand Final.
Penrith has many recreational lakes for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Penrith hosted an Olympic rowing events at the Sydney 2000 Olympics.
